The Kind Worth Killing

The Kind Worth Killing

It might only be September, but I can say, unequivocally, that The Kind Worth Killing will be my favorite read of the year. At one point, when I was reading it on the train, I was so engrossed in it that I actually missed my stop. Quick side note, although I still can’t read in cars and, to a lesser extent, planes without getting a headache, I’ve discovered that I don’t have any issues reading on subways – weird, right?

Among all the novels touted as the next Gone Girl, because I think that might be a legal requirement for thrillers these days, I think this one comes the closest. I might even like this one a bit more, but that may be because going into Gone Girl, I already knew the twist. So don’t worry, I’ll try not to say too much and spoil this book for you. It’s an easy and fun read. If you’re a fan of Hitchcockian-esque thrillers (the premise is very reminiscent of Strangers on a Train, which I’m sad to say I have yet to read Patricia Highsmith’s classic or watch Hitchcock’s version, but they’re both on the list, I’ll get to it eventually) do yourself a favor and pick up copy, you won’t be disappointed. And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to read Peter Swanson’s debut novel, The Girl with a Clock for a Heart, hoping it’s just as good as this one.
