Din Tai Fung

Din Tai Fung

Din Tai Fung is famed for its paper-thin soup dumplings. But it wasn’t always that way. It originally started as a Taiwanese mom-and-pop shop selling cooking oil in 1958. A bit later, when the business took a turn as cooking oil became more readily accessible, they pivoted and dedicated half their shop to selling xiao long boas, aka soup dumplings. Their soup dumplings became so popular that they evolved the business into a fully-fledged restaurant. Nowadays, Din Tai Fung can be found across the globe in countries such as Japan, Australia, the UK, the US, Singapore, Thailand, the UAE, and many more.

The closest Din Tai Fung to me is the one at South Coast Plaza. So when Alex and Jairo were visiting, we headed over for lunch one day. We got my usual order of xiao long boa, wonton in spicy sauce, and sauteed green beans. We also got an order of dumplings and fried rice.

Din Tai Fung is located at South Coast Plaza at 3333 Bristol St, Space 2071, Costa Mesa, Ca, 92626
